1. On the basis of the country where dialect research is undertaken
2. On the basis of the dialect that is researched
3. On the basis of a project investigating (a) certain dialect(s).
4. On the basis of the language family the dialect belongs to.
5. On the basis of the location on the [1] where a dialect is spoken.
