The Nordic Dialect Corpus has been initiated under the ScanDiaSyn research network umbrella and the Nordic Centre of Excellence NORMS. ScanDiaSyn - Scandinavian Dialect Syntax is a project umbrella where ten Scandinavian research groups collaborate to systematically map and study the syntactic variation across the Scandinavian dialect continuum. NDC is a corpus of Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, Faroese and Övdalian spoken language. It consists of spontaneous speech data from dialects of the North Germanic languages across all of the Nordic countries. (Recordings from Iceland and Swedish in Finland are in process.) The linguistic data in the corpus, comes frome a variety of sources, both old and new. The technical solutions are provided by the Text Laboratory.
